Strategic Focus
Strategic Priorities: ICEYE Greece’s strategic priorities focus on strengthening sovereign Earth Observation and space-based intelligence capabilities through advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites, high-resolution all-weather imaging and rapid-access data services. In Greece, a key priority is the implementation of the Greek National Satellite Space Program – Axis 1.2, including the development, local assembly and deployment of dedicated Greek SAR satellites, together with access to ICEYE’s wider constellation and associated ground-segment capabilities. The company also aims to expand Greece’s role as a European hub for SAR satellite manufacturing, systems engineering and mission operations, while advancing applications in defence and security, maritime domain awareness, disaster response, wildfire and flood monitoring, and critical-infrastructure surveillance. Continued priorities include higher imaging resolution, lower data latency, AI-enabled analytics and stronger integration of sovereign national capabilities with broader European space and security architectures.
Looking for Partnerships: ICEYE Greece seeks partnerships with government and defence organisations, space agencies, satellite and ground-segment companies, launch providers, EO/geospatial firms, research institutes, universities and SMEs. Areas of interest include SAR satellite manufacturing, sovereign Earth Observation, ground-segment operations, AI-driven analytics, disaster and maritime monitoring, defence applications, local supply-chain development and collaborative R&D within Greek, ESA and European programmes.
Background
Established: 2024-02-29
Key Customers: ICEYE serves a broad customer base across government, defence, intelligence, civil protection, Earth Observation and commercial risk-management markets. In Greece, key institutional customers include the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance and the Greek national space programme, supported in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the deployment of sovereign SAR satellite capabilities. ICEYE provides satellites, SAR data and space-based intelligence to national defence forces, NATO organisations, government agencies and allied nations, while commercial customers include insurers, financial institutions, maritime and disaster-response organisations. Other customers and users include NATO, ESA, NASA, the Finnish Defence Forces, the Polish Armed Forces, the Portuguese Air Force, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, AXA, Swiss Re and Tokio Marine.
Affiliations/Memberships: ICEYE Greece is actively connected to the Greek and European space and Earth Observation ecosystems through membership in the Hellenic Space Technologies and Applications Cluster (si-Cluster) and the Hellenic Association of Space Industries (HASI). At European level, ICEYE is also a member of the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC), where ICEYE representatives have served on the Board of Directors, reflecting the company’s active role in shaping the European Earth Observation industry. ICEYE is also a member of the EU Space ISAC (Information Sharing and Analysis Centre), the European initiative focused on strengthening the cybersecurity and resilience of space systems and infrastructure. In addition, ICEYE is represented within Eurospace, the trade association of the European space manufacturing industry. These affiliations reinforce ICEYE Greece’s integration into the national and European space ecosystem and support collaboration across Earth Observation, defence, cybersecurity, satellite manufacturing and institutional space programmes.
Facilities: ICEYE Greece operates dedicated facilities in Athens supporting the assembly, integration and production of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites, together with associated engineering and programme activities. The site includes a satellite assembly production line established under the Greek National Satellite Space Program – Axis 1.2, where ICEYE completed the production of the two Greek SAR satellites. The Athens facility is designed to support broader European space initiatives and ICEYE’s global innovation activities, while also serving as a base for highly skilled satellite systems engineers and technical personnel. ICEYE has also announced plans to further develop its presence in Greece through a Centre of Excellence, strengthening local capabilities in satellite manufacturing, systems engineering and advanced Earth Observation technologies.
