Strategic Focus

Strategic Priorities: Satways’ strategic priorities in the space domain focus on the development of downstream applications, secure communications and integrated multi-domain situational awareness. A first priority is the exploitation of Earth Observation and Copernicus services for civil protection, environmental monitoring and critical infrastructure protection. Satways aims to integrate satellite-derived information with terrestrial sensing and operational data to support applications such as forest-fire monitoring, flood assessment, earthquake response, infrastructure damage assessment and maritime surveillance. A second priority is secure and resilient satellite communications, particularly GOVSATCOM- and IRIS²-enabled services for defence, public safety and emergency-response users. Satways is interested in integrating satellite communications as a resilient layer within mission-critical C3I architectures, especially in degraded, remote or infrastructure-denied environments. A third strategic priority is the development of space-enabled multi-domain C3I and decision-support systems. Through the ENGAGE platform, Satways aims to combine information from satellites, UAVs, terrestrial sensors, maritime sensors, passive sensing networks and field personnel into a unified operational picture supporting mission planning, alert management, resource coordination and response orchestration. Satways also considers critical infrastructure monitoring and protection a major growth area for space technologies. Satellite observation and communications can complement Satways’ Distributed Acoustic Sensing, seismic, hydroacoustic and other passive sensing technologies for the protection of energy networks, transport infrastructure, borders, ports, subsea cables and offshore installations. Another priority is maritime and seabed situational awareness, where satellite-based AIS, EO/SAR imagery and satellite communications can be fused with radar, RF, hydrophone, DAS and underwater sensing systems. This supports the development of integrated space–air–surface–subsurface (multi-layered) surveillance architectures for both civil-security and defence applications. Finally, Satways seeks to strengthen its participation in European space, security and defence programmes, positioning itself as a downstream application provider and system integrator capable of transforming space-derived data and services into mission-oriented operational capabilities for end users.

Looking for Partnerships: Satways is interested in partnerships with satellite operators, Earth Observation data and analytics providers, IRIS²/GOVSATCOM and secure-connectivity providers, space-system integrators, EO/SAR processing specialists and downstream application developers. Particular interest lies in joint solutions combining satellite communications and Earth Observation with terrestrial, maritime and underwater sensing, including radar, RF, seismic, DAS, hydroacoustic and unmanned-system data. Satways is also interested in partnerships addressing civil protection, disaster management, border and maritime surveillance, critical infrastructure protection, resilient communications, environmental monitoring and defence applications, especially where space-derived information can be integrated into C3I/C4I platforms for operational situational awareness and decision support. The company is particularly open to collaboration within ESA, EU Space Programme, Horizon Europe and European defence programmes, including technology demonstrations, pilot deployments and joint development of dual-use downstream services.
