In the space domain, Corallia Ventures has a growing portfolio and pipeline around satellite systems, space electronics, autonomous systems, Earth Observation and space-enabled digital services; examples include investments in SOLIDKOSMOS, which develops critical-systems reliability technologies relevant to space electronics, as well as other space- and dual-use ventures emerging from the Greek research ecosystem. Corallia Ventures also benefits from close links to the wider Greek space innovation community and ESA BIC Greece.
Corallia is a leading organisation in the Greek innovation ecosystem and a unit of the Athena Research Center, with a long-standing role in developing Greece’s space and deep-tech sectors. It has been instrumental in building the Greek space ecosystem through initiatives such as the si-Cluster and ESA BIC Greece, connecting companies, startups, universities, research institutes, investors and public authorities.
Corallia supports space and space-enabled ventures through incubation, business development, mentoring, access to funding, technology transfer, internationalisation and links to ESA and the wider European space ecosystem. Its activities span areas such as satellite technologies, Earth Observation, telecommunications, electronics, software and downstream applications, helping Greek space companies grow, collaborate and compete internationally.
The Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission (EETT) is Greece’s independent regulatory authority for electronic communications and postal services and also exercises competition-law powers in these sectors. EETT manages and monitors the national radio-frequency spectrum, grants spectrum rights of use and regulates satellite services involving communications between terrestrial and space stations. Its space-related role includes licensing and supervision of satellite communications, spectrum coordination and interference monitoring, and operation and planned expansion of the EOS–ΗΩΣ Satellite Spectrum Monitoring System (SSMS), which strengthens Greece’s capability to monitor satellite-frequency use and protect satellite communications from harmful interference.
ESA BIC Greece (European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre Greece) is ESA’s business incubator in Greece and part of the largest space innovation network in the world. Its primary objective is to strengthen the Greek space ecosystem by supporting five new space-related startups every year, either by enabling the transfer of space technologies to non-space markets (spin-off) or by helping innovative companies become suppliers to the space sector (spin-in). The programme offers a comprehensive incubation and support package combining business coaching, technical expertise, networking, access to funding opportunities, and legal and commercial support, helping startups accelerate technology development and progress from business idea to commercialisation. ESA BIC Greece also contributes to national innovation and space strategies by promoting the uptake of space-based services, facilitating technology transfer to and from the space sector, fostering entrepreneurship, and supporting job creation and economic growth. ESA BIC Greece is operated by Corallia, a unit of the Athena Research Center, with the support of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance and a broad network of more than 70 organisations from industry, academia, research, finance and the wider innovation ecosystem.
The General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post of the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence plays a central role in Greece’s space activities, coordinating national space policy and programmes, including the National Microsatellite Programme, government satellite infrastructure, secure satellite communications and Greece’s representation in European and international space-related bodies. Through its strategic and supervisory role, the General Secretariat supports the development of national capabilities in Earth Observation, satellite communications, space data services and downstream applications, while helping connect public-sector needs with the capabilities of Greek industry, research organisations and innovation actors. Its work contributes to strengthening Greece’s technological autonomy, resilience and international visibility in the space domain.
The Hellenic Association of Space Industry (HASI) was founded in 2008 following a joint endeavour on behalf of the main part of the Hellenic Industry active in the space technology and space applications sector. The association includes more than 55 active members. All HASI members are high-tech companies, employing over 2500 employees, of which the vast majority constitute highly educated personnel in space technology and its applications. HASI members currently accumulate Greece’s research and manufacturing personnel in the space technology and applications sector. Almost all HASI members have been participating successfully in ESA programs, either through the ESA-Greek Task Force Call for Ideas or independently through ESA open ITT tenders, and thus have been ac-cumulating significant know-how and expertise with regards to developing and managing space-related programs, technologies, and applications. Additional experience and know-how have been developed through the participation of the Greek Space Industry in different EC Framework Space Technology Programs. HASI, in collaboration with Corallia since 2009, has launched the Hellenic Space Technologies and Applications Cluster (si-Cluster) to under-pin the national space strategy. HASI undertakes the development of communication and collaboration channels between the Association members, as well as with similar ac-tors within the European and the International space marketplace. HASI also strives to achieve the optimization of the Greek participation in ESA, the National contribution to EUMETSAT, the participation to the Hellenic MoD’s programs involving space-related technologies and ap-plications, as well as any potential for industrial cooperation opportunities resulting from the aforementioned participations.
The Hellenic Space Center (HSC) is Greece’s national space organisation, operating under the Ministry of Digital Governance & Artificial Intelligence and responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the country’s space policy, programmes and capabilities. HSC promotes Greece’s participation in European and international space activities, supports the national space ecosystem, and contributes to the coordination of projects in areas such as Earth Observation, satellite technologies, secure communications, space science and space applications. Through its role in national space governance and programme coordination, HSC helps connect public authorities, industry, research organisations and international partners, strengthening Greece’s position in the European and global space sector.
